“What We Talk About When We Talk About the ‘War on Drugs’” is a companion exhibit launched during the presentation of three research papers on anti-drug campaigns in the Philippines. The papers are data-driven examinations of the Duterte administration’s campaign against illegal drugs. I was asked by the Ateneo School of Government and the Arete to present the research data in a more compelling way, to emphasize the human toll. For this multimedia exhibit, I used: initial data from the database being built by the Ateneo Policy Center, culled from media reports; images from photojournalists who have covered the campaign, namely: Ezra Acayan, Jes Aznar, Kimberly dela Cruz, Vincent Go, Raffy Lerma, Eloisa Lopez, Bro. Jun Santiago and Basilio Sepe; and films by the School of Slow Media and the Psychological Association of the Philippines.
