Kritika Kultura Lecture Series presents Temario C. Rivera’s The May 2022 Elections: Continuity or Change?

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Kritika Kultura, the international refereed journal of language, literary, and cultural studies of the Department of English, Ateneo de Manila University, is hosting a series of online lectures this 2022.

 

The second of these lectures is on March 16, 2022, Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. (PST), and features Professor Temario C. Rivera’s “The May 2022 Elections: Continuity or Change?” His lecture and the Q&A will be conducted live on Zoom and simultaneously streamed on the Kritika Kultura Facebook page (facebook.com/kritikakultura).

 

This event is co-sponsored by UNITAS, the international online peer-reviewed open-access journal of advanced research in literature, culture, and society published by the University of Santo Tomas, and Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM. 

 

About the Lecture

 

The confluence of a global pandemic and a domestic governance crisis has made the May 2022 elections a most consequential event for our country’s future. This lecture seeks to contribute to the ongoing discussions on the difficult choices our people face by clarifying the personalities, policies, and political forces at play in this election.

 

About the Lecturer

 

Temario C. Rivera is a political science professor (ret.) and former head of the UP Department of Political Science. He also served as a tenured professor at the International Christian University of Tokyo. His major book, Landlords and Capitalists, received the Outstanding Social Book Award by the National Academy of Science and Technology in 1994. A recipient of the UP Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2019, he is currently chair of the Center for People Empowerment in Governance (CenPEG).
