On Academic Freedom, Historical Revisionism, and Red-Tagging

The Network in Defense of Historical Truth and Academic Freedom and Kritika Kultura invite the academic community and the public to On Academic Freedom, Historical Revisionism, and Red-Tagging on   July 6, 2022, Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (PST), on Zoom (register here) and Facebook (facebook.com/KritikaKultura).

 

This is the first in a series of webinars and similar fora planned by the Network in Defense of Historical Truth and Academic Freedom. It is aimed at addressing how free academic inquiry on historical revisionism (and disinformation) is or can be disabled by the state’s strategy of red-tagging, arguing for academic freedom as the absolute precondition for the critical interrogation of, and knowledge-production on, any subject of concern to the public and the academe. Dr. Nemenzo’s speech will be read by Dr. Oscar V. Campomanes, a co-convenor of the Network and Associate Professor at the Department of English, Ateneo de Manila University. The webinar, which will also be the formal launch of the Network, will be moderated by Dr. Michael Pante, Associate Professor at the Department of History, ADMU.
