Submission Guidelines

The Journal of Management for Global Sustainability welcomes submissions from all management disciplines (e.g. international business, accounting, marketing, finance, operations) and from related disciplines (e.g. economics, political science) so long as the manuscript contributes to our academic understanding of the role of management in achieving global sustainability.

Submitted manuscripts shall be subject to a double-blind review process overseen by the editorial board. Submissions of theoretical work, empirical studies, and practitioner manuscripts in either Spanish or English are all encouraged. Full research papers should not exceed 7000 words.

Preparation of the Manuscript

The journal looks for manuscripts that meet the following qualities:

1. Original/novel in terms of findings, discourse, or courses of action, among others.

2. Gives readers information and insight to help them contribute more effectively in moving toward a more sustainable world (Stoner, 2013) through

   • useful, practical, and accurate information that increases awareness of the unsustainable nature of systems and practices around the world;

   • constructive ways of understanding or interpreting the global situation that can lead to action; and

   • valuable and constructive actions that can be taken to improve the situation.

3. includes the title, abstract, keywords, the main body, references, and figures and tables (if applicable) and a clear statement of the following:

   • Purpose of the study/statement of the problem

   • Design/methodology/framework of the study

   • Findings/results/discussion, e.g., thoughtful and meaningful discussion of the situation in light of possible valuable and constructive actions

   • Novelty/originality/value/contribution of the study

The manuscript shall be subject to a double-blind review process overseen by the editorial board. Submissions of theoretical work, empirical studies, book reviews and practitioner manuscripts in either Spanish or English are all encouraged. However, works in Spanish need to be accompanied by an English translation of the paper, i.e., the title, abstract, keywords, the main body, references, and figures and tables (if applicable). If the paper is accepted, both Spanish and English versions will be published.

Full research papers should not exceed 7000 words.

The text of the manuscript should be set in single-spaced 12-point Times New Roman. Italics, rather than underlining text, should be used.

The following parts need to be present:

1. Page 1: Title Page. To ensure a blind review, please note that all references to the identity or identities of the author(s) should not appear in any part of the manuscript and/or in its accompanying files.

2. Page 2: Abstract (no more than 250 words) that covers the purpose of the study, the methodology/framework used, the highlight of the findings, and the novelty/value of the article.

3. Page 2: Keywords (maximum of six concepts)

4. Page 3 onwards: The Article (main body) should include the following contents/parts, albeit with different headings:

   1. Purpose of the study/statement of the problem

   2. Design/methodology/framework of the study

   3. Findings/results/discussion, e.g., thoughtful and meaningful discussion of the situation in light of possible valuable and constructive actions

   4. Novelty/originality/value/contribution of the study

5. Figures and Charts should be submitted separately from the main body of the manuscript; however, please indicate the desired location of the figure in the article. Please ensure the high quality of diagrams, drawings, and images.

6. Tables should be submitted separately from the main body of the manuscript. Please indicate clearly the labels in the tables as well as the location of these tables in the article.

The text should adhere to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements of the Academy of Management Journal Style Guide (2014) for both in-text citation and References.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Authors are required to comply with all of the following items. Submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
2. Authorship is reserved for those who made a significant contribution to the manuscript. Others who have contributed should be acknowledged.
3. For articles with sensitive information, JMGS may require proof of approval by the authors’ university ethics committee or its equivalent, which includes proof of informed consent, statement regarding potential conflict of interest and source of financial support.
4. The submission file is in .doc or .docx file format.
5. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the author must ensure that the manuscript has been prepared for a blind review. To ensure a blind review, all references to the author’s identity must be removed from the main body and notes.
